Campylobacter jejuni 81-176 annotation
Annotation of Campylobacter jejuni 81-176 has now been completed. Recent publication of the 81-176 sequencing
paper can be accessed here.
This work is in collaboration with Jorge
E. Galán and Dirk Hofreuter.
In October 2006, Clive Parry carried out an annotation project on C.
jejuni 81-176 within Brendan Wren's group. The project involved annotating
all the unique coding sequence's (CDS) in C. jejuni 81-176 with
respect to C. jejuni NCTC11168 and C. jejuni RM1221.
In total, 64 CDSs were identified as unique using Artemis
Comparison Tool. In addition, a full annotation of the four main surface
structure loci has been carried out. Finally, a full annotation of all
truncated CDSs were carried out. All annotation was carried out using
current techniques including ORF prediction software, up-to-date BLASTP
and FASTA searches. Motif prediction tools and additional programs such
as Pfam, Prosite, TMHMM, Rfam and SignalP were all carried out for additional
information. Relevant literature was also added. This Artemis loadable
file can be accessed below. To save the file, simply right-click the link.
81-176 unique CDSs
In addition to this, a table containing all unique CDSs in C. jejuni 81-176 with respect to C. jejuni NCTC11168 and C. jejuni RM1221 was also created. In this table, unique CDSs to C. jejuni 81-176 have been designated as 'cj81-176u_x'. Other annotated CDSs (e.g. surface structure loci CDSs), have the 'cj81-176_x' designation.
